Advice for Parents and Carers

Parenting can be one of the most rewarding experiences life can bring however it isn't always easy. If you are having difficulties at home please do speak to your child's class teacher or Mrs Segust at any time. We may be able to support in different ways. Please see below for some details of organisations that may also be able to support.

Sharing Parenting

Sharing Parenting is an Evidence Based, Community Interest Company, based in Newmarket since 2009, working in partnerships with Parents, Carers, Schools and Organisations, Children’s Centres, Community Groups and the General Public in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, USA and the Middle East, delivering parenting support in the form of Courses, Workshops, Taster Sessions, One to One support and Community Pop up’s for parents to gain confidence and knowledge in their role as parents, or professionals supporting parents, in a non judgmental environment.

The BEST thing you can spend on children is TIME. Sharing Parenting delivers inspirational programmes for parents, families and professionals, in a supportive, informal environment, created from a wealth of experience and passion for working with parents to support children

School Nursing

School Nursing - The School Nursing Service provides confidential advice and support to all children, young people, and their carers in a variety of settings. Every School has access to a named practitioner within the school nurse team who work in partnership with children, parents, carers, health professionals and teachers, promote and maintain good health of all school children, support a child’s specific health needs, enable all school children to reach their full potential.

Ely Foodbank

We know that anyone can find themselves at crisis point for a number of different reasons and whilst the Coronavirus is happening in our country, there are more reasons why people will need the support of the Foodbank.

If you are in a position that you cannot afford food due to your circumstances and would like help then please ring Ely Foodbank on: 01353 468626 where someone will get back to you within 24 hours to chat through your situation and offer help where possible.

School Uniform

Children at The Shade Primary School are expected to wear a school uniform. The uniform worn by the children adds to the sense of community that we encourage in this school.  

If you need financial support to purchase uniform please speak to Mrs Segust, Headteacher.

Soham Moor Old Grammar School Fund

This Charity utilises monies raised from rents from their land to assist young people in Soham in their education. Where possible, the Charity makes donations to each of the four Soham Schools annually. The monies are to be utilised for the benefit of disadvantaged children in their education. Furthermore college and university students may apply to the charity by the 1st September in any year for a grant towards the cost of books or other materials. Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution - East region

RABI is committed to ensuring that thousands of children are ready and able to thrive when starting school in September.  Our Return to School campaign is designed to support farming families.

Grants of £200 per child are available for school children aged 4–16, providing vital assistance to ease the financial burden and ensure every child has what they need to succeed. 

This grant is available to both working and non-working farming families. Applications must be made by the parents or legal guardians of children who will be returning to or starting school from Reception class (age 4) to Year 11 (age 16). Applicants must also provide their child benefit or National Insurance number when applying.
