The Weatheralls Primary School

Parents Teachers Association

About the PTA

The PTA stands for the Parents Teachers Association of The Shade Primary School. It is made up of just that; parents and teachers of the school, who all give some of their time, expertise and skills to raise money for the school, organise and run events that the children and the local community can enjoy and benefit from.

We work together to raise money to support the school in being able to provide the children with additional life experiences and opportunities otherwise not funded by central government.

Events we have supported and organised include; the Summer Fun Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Soham Carnival Float, Christmas Market, Bingo Nights, Disco’s, Father Christmas visit and many more.

These events have raised additional funding for enrichment activities and school equipment including developing the Outdoor Classroom, pond area, Life Bus, library books, wet play activities, Christmas dinner decorations, Sports Day refreshments, musical instruments, Easter Eggs, Art Supplies to name just a few.

None of this would have been as successful without the cooperation of the committee members, teaching staff and parents who volunteer to help run/organise these.

We welcome family members who would like to volunteer to help with the events and parents who would like to join the committee.

So if you have any idea’s for fundraising or would like to be involved with any aspects of the School or PTA Events please do get in contact with anyone on the Committee or the school office for more information.

The Shade Primary School PTFA was formed in 2014, in December 2020 changed our constitution to become the PTA. We are a member of Parentkind formerly PTA-UK.  Parentkind provides support for PTAs to establish good governance and have a clear set of rules by which the association is run. Our PTA membership includes a model constitution which sets out our governance structure based on charity law and best practice for PTAs.

As a committee and more importantly, as a supportive and generous fundraising school, over £18,500 has been raised since the PTA started!.

If you would like further information about our PTA or if you would like to join, please speak to any of the Committee Members or contact the school office. Some parents decide they would prefer to be part of a sub committee to support one event and others like to join the committee to attend meeting and support the overall fundraising across the year. We are grateful for any time that you are able to offer.

It is always great to see new members joining the committee! Everyone’s input is always welcome and appreciated.
