Music Lessons

Piano Lessons

Piano lessons are taught by David Minchin (PGCE) and take place during the school day.  The lessons are a 20 minute duration.  Session times are rotated to ensure that pupils do not always miss the same classroom lessons.

For beginners, the focus of the lessons is to learn the basics of finger technique using both hands, gain the knowledge of how to read music (which can be transferred to any instrument) but most importantly to enjoy playing the piano! The piano is a fantastically versatile instrument, whether you want to learn keyboard skills to play in a band, play all the tunes you love or indeed become a classical pianist!

To get in touch with Mr Minchin regarding piano lessons please email the Trust's Director of Music, Mrs Perry:

gperry@soham-college.org.uk, who will be able to send further information.

Guitar Lessons

Guitar lessons take place every Tuesday and are usually taught in small groups of three, for 30 minutes per session. Children start off by learning the basics and playing simple songs that they are familiar with (as well as learning to write their own music!) and progress to working towards graded guitar exams, accredited by the London College of Music. Lessons are £71.50 per term, with an average of 11 lessons per term, spread out over the course of the school year (this works out, nominally, as £6.50 per lesson). Lessons are taught by Stuart Masters, a qualified teacher (QTS) and performing musician, with a number of years of experience.
